Ganderbal, April 22, 2025 — The District Bar Association, Ganderbal, has strongly condemned the recent killing of innocent tourists in Pehalgam, Kashmir, terming the act as “gruesome and cowardly.”
In an official notice issued today, the Association expressed deep anguish over the loss of civilian lives, describing the incident as an attack not only on humanity but also on the long-standing values of hospitality and peace that Kashmir represents.
The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of several tourists who had come to experience the beauty of Kashmir, has been met with widespread outrage. The Bar Association extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for peace and strength during this time of mourning. They also expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.
As a mark of protest and solidarity, the District Bar Association has decided to suspend its work for the day. The notice, signed by President Sajad Hyder Salati, calls upon all its members to observe the suspension and uphold the values of justice, peace, and humanity.
The move by the legal fraternity comes amid growing calls for peace and communal harmony in the region following the tragic attack.
