Srinagar, March 19: A recently obtained report from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court has brought to light several pending criminal cases against sitting and former Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The report details cases being heard in various courts, involving both serving and former politicians.

Among the prominent names mentioned in the document are former MP Farooq Abdullah, former MLA Peer Mansoor Ahmad, and sitting MLAs Mehraj Ud Din Malik and Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, who are all facing criminal proceedings.

Key Cases Against Politicians

Sitting MLAs:

• Mehraj Ud Din Malik (MLA) is facing two cases at the Munsiff/JMIC Gandoh court in Bhaderwah-Doda.

• Waheed Ur Rehman Parra (MLA) has ongoing cases in Pulwama’s Special Mobile Magistrate Court.

Former MPs/MLAs Facing Trials:

• Farooq Abdullah (former MP) is facing proceedings initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Srinagar.

• Peer Mansoor Ahmad (former MLA) has a case pending before the Additional District and Sessions Court in Anantnag.

• Abdul Rashid Sheikh (former MLA) is facing trial in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Pulwama.

• Kanta Andotra (former MLA) is involved in a CBI case in Jammu.
